🪔 About Uttarakhand Association of Ghana (UAG)
The Uttarakhand Association of Ghana (UAG) is a non-profit, socio-cultural organization formally registered under the Registrar General of Ghana (Reg. No. CG072292019) and recognized by the Indian High Commission in Accra.
Formed by a group of passionate individuals hailing from the picturesque state of Uttarakhand, India, UAG was born out of a shared commitment to preserve our vibrant traditions, support community welfare, and foster unity among all Uttarakhandis residing in Ghana.
The association was formally resolved during a meeting held on 1st June 2022 at the residence of Mr. Jagdish Paliwal in Tema.
🎯 Objectives
- 1) To support the needy and vulnerable within the community.
- 2) To promote Indian culture in Ghana, especially the rich traditions of Uttarakhand.
- 3) To function as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), with no profit motive.
- 4) To identify and connect all Uttarakhandis across Ghana.
- 5) To organize cultural events, festivals, and social programs periodically.
- 6) To provide emergency assistance and welfare support to members.
- 7) To facilitate community insurance initiatives for members residing in Ghana.
🛡️ Governance & Commitments
- 1) Annual elections for office bearers and responsibilities.
- 2) Monthly core committee meetings to ensure continuity and accountability.
- 3) Strict non-use of association resources for personal gain.
- 4) The authority to revoke membership in case a member permanently leaves Ghana.
- 5) Decisions taken only by majority consensus of the core committee.
📸 Activities & Cultural Engagement
UAG regularly celebrates iconic festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Uttarayani, with deep devotion and grandeur. Our programs feature traditional dances, folk songs, food, and the unique spirit of Uttarakhandi warmth and hospitality.
UAG also collaborates in Indian community events organized by the Indian High Commission and other regional bodies across Ghana.
